Overview
Watch and listen to the narrated PowerPoint What is Social Work in Module 1: Week 1 prior to completing this assignment. This assignment will involve community networking, which is a valuable skill in social work practice. You will need to identify and interview two social workers (BSW, MSW, or DSW) that work in different areas of social work practice. Prior to the interview, please go on the website of the agency and town/city. Read about the services the agency provides & find information about the community that they serve.
Being prepared for each interview is very important. When asking a social worker, please let them know that this is part of your MSW education, and the interviews should not take longer than 15 minutes.
Instructions
Using the Social Work Interview Template provided on the assignment page, please write a 3-to-5-page paper summarizing the interview. Use APA format, proper spelling, grammar, and structure. Please use the Online Writing Center if you know you need to grow in your writing competency.

Introduce your paper. Say something in general about social work and the two social workers you interviewed. End this paragraph with a thesis sentence explaining the purpose of the paper. This should be a minimum of three sentences – 4 or 5 is preferred.
First Interview Summary
Introduce the first social worker (first name, agency, area of practice, education (BSW or MSW or DSW). Introduce the community where the social worker practices (name, type – urban, suburban, rural, etc., size, state). Social Work Interview Assignment Specify the type of agency or company the social worker practices. Share if there are other social workers that work at the agency.
Share the reason the social worker decided to be
a social worker. Describe the job responsibilities of the social worker interviewed. Discuss what type of social work they do (micro, macro, mezzo) and how you came to that conclusion. Discuss a highlight of their practice. Discuss an area of their job where they would like to see improvement. Share the impact social policy has on their clients.
Describe how they practice self-care. Share the advice they offered to you as a social work student. Discuss if they ever had a social work student intern and what that was like. Discuss if they would be interested in having a social work intern next semester or the following year. Name any other organizations mentioned that may take social work interns. Add any additional information that you gathered from the interview that interested you.
