Hello. At the skilled nursing facility where I work, a resident in our secured unit became very agitated and demanded a cigarette because he was stressed. I reminded him of our scheduled smoke times and explained that we must adhere to the facility’s policy. This angered him further, and he began knocking over medication carts and tearing down posters from the walls. I contacted his psychiatrist to inform them of the situation, and they prescribed Ativan 1mg PO or IM.
