Overview
In this assignment, you will report the challenges faced by your selected marginalized population as well as the roles a counselor and organization should play when helping these individuals and families meet and overcome their challenges. You should also provide information regarding strategies and resources for working with your selected population. For the challenges faced by your chosen population, you may refer to your textbook, outside literature, or personal experiences.
Preparation
For this assignment, you may choose to create either a PowerPoint presentation or a professional memo that advocates for the marginalized population you explored in the previous assignment.
Templates are available for both the PowerPoint presentation and professional memo formats of the assignment. Select the template that applies to the approach you prefer to take while completing this assignment. If you choose to create a presentation, you may find some inspiration with this resource from your reading list:
Be sure to employ evidence and research-based reasoning to support your argument. Where appropriate, use anecdotal evidence referring to clients and students to emphasize the human and emotional elements of the issue you are addressing. Additionally, keep in mind that you are advocating in your role as a counseling professional on behalf of the clientele and student population that you serve, Advocacy for Marginalized Population so your voice is that of your counseling specialization. You are representing the profession, so make sure that your presentation is based on research and facts rather than solely personal opinions.

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

- Written communication: Written communication must be grammatically correct and free of errors that detract from the overall message. Writing should be consistent with the graduate-level scholarship. Note: Because this is your own reflection, Advocacy for Marginalized Population you may write it in the first person.
- APA format: References should be formatted according to APA style and formatting.
- Number of resources: A minimum of four scholarly sources from peer-reviewed journals, textbooks or reputable associations or organizations, such as the American Counseling Association (ACA), Advocacy for Marginalized Population American School Counselor Association (ASCA), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and National Institutes of Health (NIH), published within the past five years.
