The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament in 1765 to help pay for British troops that were stationed in the colonies during the Seven Years War. Basically, this act required colonists to pay a tax that was represented by a stamp and on different forms of papers, documents, and playing cards. This tax was intended to raise the revenue in Great Britain, but it just led to resistance from the colonies.
