NR449 EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE COMMUNITY CAFÉ ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES
Purpose
The purpose of the graded Community Café is to engage students with their peers in an interactive dialogue to organize, integrate, apply, and critically appraise knowledge for nursing practice. Meaningful dialogue fosters the development of a learning community as ideas, perspectives, and knowledge are shared. The Community Café assignment supports the professional formation of the nurse role.
Program outcomes: This assignment enables the student to meet the following outcomes:
- Demonstrates leadership and collaboration with consumers and other healthcare providers in providing care and/or delegating responsibilities for health promotion, illness prevention, health restoration, health maintenance, and rehabilitative activities.
- Communicates effectively with patient populations and other healthcare providers in managing the healthcare of individuals, families, aggregates, and communities.
- Integrates clinical judgment in professional decision making and implementation of the nursing
- Demonstrates responsibility for continued personal and professional development through enrollment in graduate education, continuing education degree programs, professional reading, and participation in professional organizations and community service.
- Incorporates evidence-based practice in the provision of professional nursing care to individuals, families, aggregates and communities.
Due date: Initial posts are due to the discussion forum by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. MT. First peer responses are due by Wednesday 11:59 MT and second peer responses are due by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. MT. Students must post on a minimum of two separate days.
